Guitars, and friends…

So… a goofy photo of me, holding an early ’70’s Yamaha acoustic guitar… The first ‘real’ decent guitar I ever purchased. Loved this ‘ax’ but, it was too big for me. I weighed 115 pounds then… I ended up selling it to my friend from the Tabor youth group, Don Brees.

Move ahead FIFTY years… Don stopped by, while visiting the old stomping grounds. We reconnected a few years ago- one of the few benefits of that Facebook place… And, he brought the guitar with him… Always good to see him. And, as my lovely wife says, it’s nice to know good people, who are making a difference in the world…..

So, here is a video from Youtube. Don has a site/page, and, here he is, playing said guitar….

Webb Tigert Duo

So, we have a couple friends from the Nashville area… They play ukuleles, but, not what you think of, with uke tunes…. They turn a tune into their own. Their band is great. They really make listening fun….

Here’s an example of one of their covers…. Never ‘liked’ the tune, til they spun it upside down …. Go, give a listen to it, and their other work…. Good stuff……

Dixie Chicken…

Magtones…

I love this photo, cuz my lovely wife just shines in it. We’ve played together for what, 25 years now. She’s so good at being ‘entertaining’, while my job is to PLAY…

We don’t do the usual tunes. We play whatever we like… Makes us a ‘niche’ sound, but, hey, that’s what we do…

Porchfest 2024

Hi. We are playing this Saturday, June 8th, 1-2pm, at the Mt Morris, Il Porchfest! They’re nice enough to keep inviting us back… We’ll be at the Trinity Lutheran Church-outside- 308 E. Brayton Road.

Our Friend RuthAnn Lillstrom is at the site from 3-4pm.

There’s music starting at 1pm, finishing up at 6pm. Food vendors, and several porches/stages round town. Check it out!!!!

Been a great July!

Here we are, Mid July already! Man… Time does fly, but I don’t need to tell you that… Picnics, yard work, get togethers with friends, gigs, road trips, and….

July 2nd, Grass Attack played a gig in Brodhead, Wisconsin. A ton of fun, for us, and the people who started off the Independence Day celebrations, by joining us.

We celebrated the 4th, by heading up to Wisconsin again, to Sharon, where my brother in law’s band, Fast Lane, was playing. Great time. Great band.

Fast Lane, the cool band!
Cool Fast Lane T-shirts!
My sister Jeannine- Tammy was wandering about, and us, at Stan’s gig

Our good friend, Ray Cygrymus ordered up a batch of T-shirts, so, we got them. Look pretty slick!

On July 6th, we- the Magtones– played the Midtown Market. a lot of fun. great vendors, and a good day, all round…

The Magtones getting ready to play

On Sunday, July 9th, Grass Attack played a great 3. hour set at Hawks Mill Winery. That… Was fun. For us, and the crowd, it seemed…

Just me… Everyone else was checking out the wines…

And, our good, no, great friends, Denise and Keith, made the drive up to listen/watch. I’ve known Keith for 51 years. Great guy…

Denise and Keith

We went blueberry picking, on the 15th. Got a good haul. Didn’t take any pix of the berries, but, we got to see some day old baby goats… And a cat…

So cute!

Our year is going nuts this time of year, as it should. Here are a few of the flowers that came up…

Today, we played the Midtown market again.

Tomorrow, we are lucky enough to play for ‘Brat Days’, for the Alpine Kiwanis. A great local/civic event.
