Introduction to Door County

What a great weekend! We went to door county w/ our very good friends, the Augusts. Despite the rain, we have a really good time! From wandering the small towns, to watching the water, to dining, to festivals. A fun introduction to the peninsula…

A great time… From beginning to end… Good friends. Adventures. Fun. What more could you want….? Seriously…..?!

Roadtrip to DC

img_4400-1So, we went on a road trip to the DC area, for a uke fest, and a fantastic tour of Washington.  Met some really great people. Saw some amazing things. Had some deeply moving experiences.

We hit the road early Thursday morning. EARLY… Like 3am cst early… But, we passed though Chicago w/out any difficulty. Twelve hours later, we’re hangin’ in the DC area.

Thursday evening, we rested up, and did a little jamming…

Mike and Tim jammin’ on a tune…

Friday morning, we hit the city. The national mall, among other spots…

Stopped by Abe’s den…  You know, it’s really odd/surreal standing there, thinking of all the times we’ve seen it on tv, in the movies, and, to finally be there… Very moving…

The Korean war memorial.

Saturday morning, we headed off to the first Gaithersburg ukulele fest.  Mike taught harmonica, and did great! Lots of good reviews.img_4318During our class with Gracie Terzian. Maggie was asked to help/demonstrate how to sing and play at the same time…. Fun…img_4319

Mike’s demo at the harp class….

During dinner, we got to do a couple tunes… We hung w/ Cynna, Diane, and a bunch of other cool peeps…img_4484

Sunday, we went to Mount Vernon, George Washington’s estate… HOW cool is this?!?img_5957img_4438Monday, we hit the streets/sites again, in DC. img_4402

The Mad City once again

The start of a great weekend, once again. Last night we had dinner, and then went shopping for new clothes and shoes for Maggie. Since she is wasting away to nothing since her heart incident, she has shrunk out of all of her clothes. Now we have to shop for all new ones. Lucky her. Today, we went up to Madison for probably the last time this season for the farmers market. October is so fickle in the midwest, that you don’t know from day to day whether it’s gonna be hot, cold, warm, cool, sunny, rainy, or what. . . So we went today and got fresh mushrooms, peppers, amish pies, and bags of stuff that will make us sad when it’s gone. Winter is so long without fresh produce from the growers. We had a great lunch @ our favorite restaurant in Madison, Bluphies. 10 years now, we have been dining there, and it’s still our fav. We have eaten there more than any other restaurant, except maybe Beef a roo.
We stopped by Madison Music to see our friend Mike, and look @ all the guitars. No, none came home with us-today. Maybe soon. Tonight, Doug is coming by to visit and jam, and, maybe, the evening will have an interesting twist.
It’s a long time ’til dawn . . . .

Have a good rest of the evening. . .

Our friends, Mollie and Bill, are out west. This is a photo that they sent us. How they mow the lawn out in big sky country.
